Eye Exams for Children. Your child’s first eye exam should be at six months old! We know your baby can’t read but vision and potential disease can still be determined. Unless you see a glaring problem such as red or bulging eyes excessive tearing, you should bring your six-month-old baby to us for the first regular eye examination. With that initial test we can:

- Determine farsightedness or astigmatism.
- Check the overall health of your baby’s eyes.
