Keratoconus may ultimately require a corneal

After all non-invasive treatments have been utilized, surgery may be required. Eventually the eye infected by Keratoconus may not tolerate the lenses. Then it is time for keratoplasty. Keratoplasty is generally done as an out-patient and no overnight hospital stay is required.

If you've had a traumatic injury to your eye, such as an infection or a chemical burn we can perform a corneal transplant.

Our caring surgeons replace the infected or damaged cornea with a donor cornea. The sutures we use are less than half the thickness of a human hair. They remain for months or even years until the eye is completely healed.

How long is the recovery from a corneal transplant?

Some of our patients can see far better the day after the surgery. Others could take as long as a year to fully recover. We will provide you with special eye drops to help the healing process and to enhance your vision.

What else should I know?

After your transplant you want to be sure your eyes are always protected. Once your eyes are completely healed and the sutures are removed, we may even be able to perform Lasik surgery to give you back the perfect vision you once had – without eyeglasses or contact lenses. Trust us with the health of your eyes. We will recommend what is best for your vision.
